1 Introduction

As my final project on the 4th semester I have decided to make a complete redesign of a website. The website owner is the Fisheries and Maritime Museum located in Esbjerg named FIMUS. Dying my talk with the webmaster, she explained the goal and aims on their running version of the website. She also mentioned what they want to change in the next generation.

They want to have the following changes:

- A video clip that show an octopus opening a jar and eating the crap inside it.
- easier navigation and structure of the overall menu
- more successful colors for the fish museum
- Use high quality pictures to present the atmosphere in the museum
- to make it possible to order books and articles from the web site
- Rethink the goal and communication in the Logo for the FIMUS museum.

I have been in Esbjerg fish museum many times. It is a very beautiful place, but I think that people do not know much about this museum. They do not provide enough information (in the right way) about themselves, as they have a web site but they do not use it correctly. They put a lot of different information on the home page which is not needed to the ordinary user, so the user can be confused when they visits the museums webpage. So, in order of this I will try to help to our users to find the useful information on the web site. I will make the navigation system easer. I will try to make this web page more beautiful, with the knowledge which I have achieved from education.
I would like to present a short description of this museum.
It is natural for a town by the sea, a town that owes its origin and its growth to its harbour, its shipping and fishing to have a maritime museum. Esbjerg is no exception: the Fisheries and Maritime Museum was opened on the occasion of Esbjerg Harbours centennial in 1968.The Fisheries and Maritime Museum is the largest institution of its kind in Denmark focusing on Danish fisheries and marine biology, the tidal wetlands (Wadden Sea), west Jutland coastal shipping and the North Sea offshore industries. So the theme of the museum can truly be said to be "people and the sea".
Like any other state museum, the Fisheries- and Maritime Museum is committed to collection, registration, preservation, research and consultancy within its particular field of work. This work consumes the majority of the museums resources, but all this is not really apparent to the museums visitors. However, these activities form the basis for the museums informative work, for the books, articles, lectures, videos, films etc.

1.1 Problem formulation

The first thing to be done in order to solve an ill-structured problem is to formulate it in a well-structured way, i.e. to describe explicitly of the initial situation which is to be changed, the goal which is to be achieved, the problem-space which is to be explored, the operators which are to be used. Such a well-structured formulation is traditionally called a presentation of the problems.
So, they are as followings:

- How I can make a new design of the web page with the help of the new and modern technology and programs which I have learned in the academy?

- What kind of target group do we have in FIMUS. This to be sure that our website targets our target group.

- How can I make a better attendance of the museum and also of the web page?

- What kind of elements on our web page should I have to get response from our target group (video, flash, pictures)? Mädchen Bräute Frauen Russische VIP Russische Mädchen

1.2 Project Considerations

I am as part of a group, who are assigned to work with this project, able to see that it is a challengeable task for me to test my abilities in working in such condition. It is one step forward experimenting how the real task will look if I need to work in Denmark with my knowledge as multimedia designer. I can see that this project is very interesting for me. As I consider that it is real to deal with a Danish company and at the same time analyzing the working atmosphere on the Danish market.
I hope that this project which I am doing for FIMUS will be the channel where I will start up as being multimedia designer.
Limitation:

Since I am only one member in a group, so it is possible that I will not have enough time to do all of the work which I have planed, until 19th of December.
As I am only one member in the group and I have time limitation for the project, so it will be not possible to realize all my ideas.
I can not give the questions schedule to all audience (in Esbjerg), since I do not have so much time and resources.

Learning goals:

In the project I want to fulfill new ideas and practice all knowledge I have received during all four semesters. So my learning goals can be defined as following:

To practice and improve my knowledge in such programs as Macromedia Flash, Adobe Photo Shop, MS Access and Visual Studio ASP.NET.
To be able to work with Adobe Premier Pro, to create my own videos with sound and other effects.
To implement what I have learned about rich media.

1.3 Organizing the team working

Of course, attempting anything without a plan will surely lead to lost of backtracking, lost time and headaches. I believe not only a plan can keep me on track, but it can also allow me to structure your ideas to my routine work and avoid sort of an excellent reference when it comes time to making decisions on my project.

So, the group also needs to be organized so that they should have some methods and paths which they seek for. Therefore, I have to organize and draw my group to bear with the followings:

Process/goal: I must be capable to see the problems and analyze them to get the result in order to reach my goals.

Bureaucratic: I am an IT student, and it is necessary to have some mutual rules on how to carry out the task assigned and reach the satisfaction of the FIMUS and my supervisor.

Active: I should be innovative, active and be able to find logical solutions for problems that might be encountered.

Leadership seeking: Since I am only one member in the group, so I will be the leader of my group.

1.4 The waterfall model

I use the waterfall model for while documenting my planning, and problem formulation, organizational structure, marketing, concept development and the communication part of the report.

1.5 Project plan

So, I will make a project plan that organizes my self and which I have to follow up every moment in order to know whether, if I am behind the schedule or are in/on time to accomplish this project.

I have 16 weeks (36-51) to make this project. I will be using all the knowledge I acquired in the four previous semesters, especially the new material from the third semester.

I will use much of my time during the day, with a lot of responsibility. I will be accountable for the success and progress of this project. This plan will help me make all my work, so that my project is delivered in the time.

datemonth Plan

5 September Make project schedule
10 September Rapport start + project plan
11 September Meet with FIMUS
12 September Make a question page to visitors of FIMUS. (Appendix 1)
14 September Send questions to Michael
17 September Start to work with questions schedule analyses. Find out of our target group.
25 September Start with design/ steel work with rapport
15 October Start with flash and video (story board)
1 November Start coding website/ check all project
17 December Finish project
18 December Print out

Project control group:

FIMUS and Michael should evaluate my work and set goals if anything more is needed, and monitor the work process.

1.6 Project schedule

Project planning:
I have to analyze the project generally and take all the necessary points of the project. I have to present the questions to FIMUS?s representative Marie about organization, company and working process in the museum. What she expects from me? Why she is so much interested to change the design and to add new functions to the web site?

So, I have made a project plan as mentioned above of how I need to carry out this project. I have prepared a project plan structure which I have to follow up every time in order to know whether if I am behind the schedule or are in / on time to accomplish this project. These activities start from week number 37.

Problem formulation:
These activities will be started right after I have finished the first activities which I have mentioned above and made the milestone. I have used in these activities the waterfall model of scheduling the project plan. These activities will start on week numbers 38 to 41.

Database/Design:
Here I have used the iteration model, because I have been kept changing always if the design did not reach the acceptance of the customer from time to time, so I have to convince the customer of my suggestions and the ideology behind my design.

Movie Clip:
On these activities I have to carry out the movie and write the story board of the movie on week numbers 47 to 50.

Product:
On week 51 I will hand in the finished product and the report.

1.7 Risk analysis

RISK Description Chance Impact Mitigation
Not enough time to develop Very likely Serious Allocate extra time, work overtime, work at the weekend
Not enough developers Less likely Serious Try to reduced wasted time and optimize planning
Changes to technical platform Little-likely Problematic Stick to original plan, unless changes are very important
Sickness Likely (autumn/winter) Serious Try to stay ahead of plan if possible, or have work that can be done at home in case of sickness
Server crash Little Possibly disastrous Keep a backup on USB stick or other drive
Loss of Internet connection Little Unable to do research and testing Move on with other tasks until connection is restored.
Delays due to inexperience Medium Deadline will be harder to keep Make sure that project plan is at least kept. Contact supervisor in case of doubt
EarthquakeExtremely Faint total disaster Call force major / ignored
Fish can diedLittlePossible
Octopus can diedMediumSerious Try to find another interesting object to movie clip
Our customer can change his/her idea Little Possible
Museum can be closedLittlePossible

Conclusion:

In this part I have made my project plan which will help me to continue doing my project tasks. It was very important for me to find all of the risks which could occur in my project, so then I will be sure in my work and I am able to make it in the right time which I have planed. In this part you can see how I have organized myself. I have also used the Waterfall model for my project. As I have used the writing report, such as project management, marketing management, communication and etc. With the help of the Waterfall model I will easily able to construct my written part in this report. I have also used my free days (Saturday and Sunday) for my project, because sometimes things can go wrong, and then I should have some time to done my work, in that time which I planed. Weekend was extra time used for project work. So, now I am sure that I will make the work in time.
